Ampera Bridge Will Be Closed When New Year's Eve For 2 Hours

"Usually the New Year's Eve celebration is centered around BKB (Benteng Kuto Besak). But it is not uncommon for residents to gather at the Ampera Bridge, so as usual Ampera is closed 2 hours, from 23.00 WIB to 01.00 WIB," said North Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Zulkarnain at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Monday (12/17/2018).
With the closure, residents can certainly gather in the integrated Wistaa area. Starting from Pendestrian Walk Sudirman, Perjuangan Rakyat Monument, Fountain of Water circle and its surroundings.
"If the 2-hour bridge is closed, it means that it can be a gathering place on the eve of the year. After that it will open to pass from Seberang Ilir to Ulu, Palembang," he said.
The closure itself, according to Zulkarnain, is not only done on the eve of the night. But when the Eid al-Adha prayer and Eid Al-Fitr even the Ampera Bridge was closed.
For vehicles that will cross, Zulkarnain suggests that he can use the Musi II Bridge which is located in Gandus. In addition, another alternative bridge is the Musi IV Bridge that connects Kuto Market and Al-Munawar Arab Village.
"For Musi IV, it cannot be ascertained, if this has been inaugurated, the President might be able to use it. Yes it depends on the conditions according to the results of coordination with the Transportation Agency," he said.
As is known, when the celebration of the New Year's Eve and holidays in the city of Palembang is indeed more often celebrated in BKB. But it does not rule out the possibility that the number of residents who come will be abundant and can reach the Ampera Bridge.
